FAQ: If I register for one ordeal, but can't go, what happens?
A: You have 1 year from date of election to go thru an ordeal. If you miss one, go to the next one. All of the ordeals for the year are listed on the Fellowship Registration form.
FAQ: Does hazing or mistreatment occur as part of the Order of the Arrow induction process?
A: Absolutely not. Everything about the induction exercise is designed to maintain the dignity of the candidate. "Neither hazing nor any other activity that
endangers the health or injures the feelings of the candidates
has a place in an Order of the Arrow ceremony" (Guide for Officers and Advisers, pg. 27).
FAQ: I've been told that we don't eat much during the ordeal, but I have a medical condition that requires me to eat certain foods at certain times. What do I do?
A: Come to the ordeal and bring a note from you doctor describing what must be done. We'll ensure that your regimen is followed. If you eat special food--bring it.
FAQ: My son is in the OA (or going thru the Ordeal) and I want to be in the OA too. Can I show up and go through?
A: No. Each unit that has an election may nominate 1 adult from the unit. The adult has to be: registered with BSA and have had 15 days and nights of camping with the Scouts in the previous 2 years. The lodge adult selection committee will select ONLY those adults who will support the OA and are willing to assume a position within the OA.
FAQ: Our troop hasn't had an election but I'm eligible for election. What do I do?
A: Go to the Chapter Information page of this Web site. Find the chief or adviser in your district. Give him a call and ask him to contact your unit leader to do an election.
FAQ: I registered for an ordeal, but couldn't make it. Is my registration good at another ordeal?
A: Yes. We keep track of who registers and doesn't show up. Your registration will be waiting at the next ordeal.
FAQ: I am already a member of the Lodge. May I attend Ordeals/Fellowships?
A: Yes! Many Arrowmen attend each Fellowship, perform service, and fellowship with old friends and new members. You only need to pay for the cost of the food. Make sure you pre-register whenever possible. If you would like to help with one of these fine events, contact the Ordealmaster or Adviser for more information and service/leadership opportunities.
